Evolution and analysis of the patient-physician relationships during the COVID-19 pandemic

In the seventies the biopsychosocial model increased interest in the analysis of the patient-physician relationship. Studies have shown that relationship focuses on the patient’s self-determination correlates with an improvement in compliance to treatment and perceived satisfaction of the patient. However, the effectiveness of the patient-physician dyad is influenced by changes in the cultural and health context. Isolation and stigma that characterize health conditions from pandemics, contribute to the development of Burnout of health professionals Physician and anxiety for patients by influencing their communication and thus reducing their symmetry between the actors involved and the time spent listening. More investments in healthcare, more training for professionals, as well as an increase in policies aimed at promoting health for the community, contribute to the improvement of care.
