Abstract

This story also tells a criminal trial that accompanies the literary one. The function of both rites allows us to take stock of one of the most famous intrigues of the sixteenth century, at the time of the Italian wars. Among all the writers who wrote about this tragic event it seems that Ludovico Ariosto was the one who had to convey the official truth, but what is the true meaning of what happened in the court of Ferrara between 1505 and 1506?
