This contribution proposes a critical reading of some prose works of twentieth-century Italian literature set in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. In the logic of linking the stories and novels to the territory, in a historical, cultural and sociological sense, the essay wants to show paths on the aesthetic and anthropological values of the landscape. An unpublished short story by Marco Santagata entitled La zòca is published here for the first time in the appendix.
